Castelnaud

With the sun holding out (so far!),  we left the market and headed up to the castle on the hill (cue a Thornden school rendition of Ed Sheeran)

Castelnaud is a beautiful castle founded in the 12th Century. Over the years the castle has fallen into the hands of both the English and the French and now serves to provide some wonderful views over the Dordogne and La Roque Gageac.

We arrived at the castle and the spiral staircases led us up to the top of the castle walls. Some of us decided we would rather hide in the walls than climb all the steps though!

Descending from the walls we came across the great Trebuchets and a cannon with some newly employed human canon balls.

We've had a great morning and are now off for lunch in La Roque Gageac before our trip to Sarlat this afternoon.
